What is an official Outcross?
An
official outcross is produced from mating two
Registered
recognised pedigree breeds of cat together.
It
is always advisable make a thorough investigation when purchasing
a Pedigree kitten to be sure you are actually purchasing an officially registered
kitten from a reputable breeder.
There are a vast number of kittens which are not registered with either
GCCF or TICA being sold. usually they are advertised and sold before the
age of 13 weeks and without having two sets of vaccinations done three weeks
apart. These kittens cannot be classed as pedigrees because they do not
have the necessary registration paperwork provided by either TICA or GCCF. The
cat worlds equivalent of the Kennel Club.
A
reputable breeder will be able to show you the registration document for the
mother and the correct certificate for the mating with the father.
*NOTE THESE DOCUMENTS ARE NOT THE SAME AS A PEDIGREE
YOU WOULD BE GIVEN
FOR THE KITTEN *
If you
are unsure ask for the pedigree names of both parents and contact GCCF for
further advice They can tell you if the cats were officially registered
to be bred from.
